Introduction

The Macfarlane Trust has undergone a number of changes this year largely due to the implementation of MFET, which makes non-discretionary payments to all infected beneficiaries of the Trust.  The Trust still makes discretionary payments to infected beneficiaries but as per Charity law, the Trust has to establish financial need.

As the Trust needs to comply with the regulations set out by the Charity Commissioners, periodic reviews will continue to be conducted by the Trust to ensure that the discretionary payments are disbursed appropriately; we ask that beneficiaries complete and return any forms or documentation to us for this purpose.

In addition to providing discretionary payments to infected beneficiaries, the Trust now has additional funding to assist the bereaved and dependents of the Trust and this continues to be a work in progress.  However, a policy for widows is currently underway but again, as per Charity law, the Trust has to determine financial need.
